Effingham Drops Senior Legion Contest, Toledo Beats Shelbyville

Effingham Senior Legion Post #120 fell to Olney in action Tuesday.
Effingham took a 1-0 first inning lead and tacked on two more runs in the second. But Olney came back to tie the score at 3-3 in the bottom of the third. The two teams went scoreless through the next three innings before Olney tallied a run in the bottom of the seventh to win 4-3.
Effingham's Hudson Graham started the game and allowed three runs on four hits. Lane Koenig was the tough luck loser going two innings and only giving up one hit.
Effingham had five hits led by Brett Koester with a single and an RBI while Ryan Sandifer, Zac Bateman, Koenig and Kendall Ballman had a hit each. Koenig and Bateman had an RBI each.
Effingham Post 120 drops to 1-1 on the season and will travel to Mount Vernon Saturday for a doubleheader.

Toledo Post 764 edged Shelby County Junior Legion Posts 289-611-725, 6-5.
Toledo took a 3-1 first inning lead but Shelby County came back to lead 4-3 in the top of the third. Toledo then tallied two in the fourth to take a 5-4 lead but Shelby County tied in the top of the fifth. Toledo then won the game with a run in the bottom of the fifth.
Riley Brown and Colby Comstock had two singles each for the winners while Jimmy Woods had a double and two RBI.
Shelby County was led by Dalton McGill and Aaron Kirby with a single and double each. Kirby added an RBI. Camden Coleman had a triple and two RBI.
