Effingham Senior Legion Downs Newton

Effingham Post 120 stepped out to a 4-0 first inning lead and that's where the scoring ended in the senior legion win over Newton Post 20 in action Wednesday evening.

Lane Koenig threw 6.2 innings, allowing two hits, two walks and striking out 11.

Post 120 had six hits in the contest and was aided by four Newton Post 20 errors. Brett Koester had two hits while Zac Bateman, Kendall Ballman, Koenig and Cody Grove had one hit each. Ballman had an RBI with his hit.

Newton's two hits came from Goedde and Geier with one each.
