Effingham Jr. Legion Wins, Shelby Co. Drops Two

Effingham Junior Legion edged Dieterich Junior Legion 5-4 in action Tuesday.

Dieterich took a 3-0 first inning lead but Effingham came right back in the second to tie the score. Effingham moved ahead 4-3 in the top of the third but this time it was Dieterich's turn to come back and tie the score in the fourth. Effingham's winning run came in the fifth.

Effingham had only four hits in the contest, singles by Wall, Guy, Hoene and Gordon. Guy, Hoene, Gordon and Fearday had an RBI each. The winners drew 11 walks in the contest.

Dieterich was led by Schmidt with a single, double and an RBI, Flach with two singles and an RBI, Bohnhoff with two singles and Hunzinger with a double and an RBI.

Decatur Pride Gold captured a doubleheader over Shelby County Junior Legion Posts 289-611-725 Tuesday.

Decatur Pride Gold blanked Shelby County 13-0 in the opener. The game ended in the fifth.

Shelby County had only two hits, singles by Aaron Kirby and Camden Coleman.

In the second game, Decatur Pride Gold claimed an 8-2 victory. Decatur edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead then had a six-run third and tallied a final run in the fourth.

Shelby County had three hits, a triple by Kentrell Beck, singles by Dalton McGill and Grant Mose with an RBI and an RBI by Cotlen Reed.
