Wooden Shoes Claim 8th Straight Sectional Title w/Win Over Piasa SW

The Teutopolis Wooden Shoes moved into a 2A Super-Sectional game for the eighth straight season with a 7-2 win Saturday over Piasa Southwestern to win the Vandalia Sectional Tournament.

Piasa drew first blood with a run in the second, but the Shoes tied the game with a run in the top of the third. It was 1-1 until a four-run explosion by the Shoes in the sixth inning to take a 5-1 lead. T-Town added two runs in the top of the seventh to make it 7-1. Piasa got a run in the bottom of the seventh but Eric Kremer then closed it out for the complete game win.

Kremer allowed two earned runs on four hits, walking two while striking out 13 batters.

Teutopolis improved to 28-6 on the season, and will take on Nashville for the right to advance to the Final Four. Nashville beat Carterville 11-2 to win the Benton 2A Sectional. Game time is 5pm at Sauget. Hear the game on KJ Country 102.3 and www.kjcountry.com
