St. A, North Clay, T-town Nab Regional Baseball Titles

ALTAMONT -- Effingham St. Anthony blanked Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg to capture the championship of the Class 1A Altamont Baseball Regional Monday, 7-0.
Adam Levitt and Joseph Kabbes combined to throw the shutout. Levitt picked up the win, going six innings, allowing seven hits, one walk and striking out four. Kabbes came on in the final inning to allow no hits and no walks.
The Bulldogs took a 1-0 first inning lead when Kabbes' sacrifice fly scored the run. The Bulldogs tallied two more in the third, fifth and sixth innings.
The Bulldogs had 12 hits in the contest led by Drew Gibson with a single and double, Austin Kline with two singles, Levitt with two singles and two RBI, Bryson Wall with a double and two RBI and Greg Utz with a double and an RBI.
Derek Moshenrose had two singles for the Hatchets while Collin Ohnesorge had a double.
St. Anthony advances to the North Clay (Louisville) Sectional Thursday at 4 p.m. against Edwards County (Albion) at 4 p.m. The second game will feature North Clay against Oblong at 6:30. The winners advance to the sectional championship Saturday.

At Centralia
North Clay (Louisville) edged South Central 3-2 to win the Class 1A Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran Regional championship Monday.
The Cardinals led 1-0 after the first but South Central tied in the second. North Clay then tallied two runs in the third. The Cougars had a final run in the fourth.
Repking was the winning pitcher, going 3.1 innings, allowing six hits, two runs, seven walks and striking out four.
Matheny was the tough luck loser, going three innings, allowing three hits, three runs, one walk and striking out one.
North Clay's Repking had a single and double while Aldrich had a double and an RBI.
North Clay advances to its own sectional Thursday against Oblong at 6:30 p.m.

At Oblong
Dieterich saw its season come to a close with a 5-0 loss to Oblong in the Class 1A Oblong Regional championship Monday.
Oblong tallied a run in the fourth and fifth innings and three in the seventh. Oblong had 10 hits.
Dieterich had four hits, all singles by Goedde, Campton, Niebrugge and McClain. The Movin' Maroons end the season with a 13-5 record.

Teutopolis had an easy time of it in winning the Class 2A Greenville Regional Monday.
The Wooden Shoes ended the contest in the fifth inning by a 12-0 count over Vandalia. T-town tallied two in the first, seven in the second, one in the third and two in the fourth.
The Shoes' Eric Kremer threw a one-hitter with no walks and six strikeouts. He improved to 6-0 on the season.
The Wooden Shoes had four home runs in the contest. Jansen had two home runs and three RBI, Bueker two singles, a home run and three RBI, Bloemer a home run and three RBI and Hartke a double.
Coach Justin Fleener's squad improves to 26-6 and will now travel to the Vandalia Sectional Wednesday against either Gillespie or Alton Marquette.

At Flora
Breese Central ended Newton's season in the Class 2A Flora Regional Monday, 5-4.
The two teams were tied at 2-2 after three innings. Newton took a 3-2 lead in the top of the fifth. Breese Central came back to tie in the bottom of the sixth. Newton moved ahead with a run in the top of the seventh. But Breese Central tallied two in the bottom of the inning to pull out the victory.
Bierman had a double and triple for Newton while Geier had two singles and two RBI. Grunloh and Jansen had a single, double and an RBI each.
Breese Central advances to the Vandalia Sectional Wednesday to take on Piasa Southwestern at 6:30 p.m.
