Highland Hands Effingham Baseball Loss

HIGHLAND -- Effingham High School took a 3-0 lead in the top of the second but it didn't last long as Highland came back with six runs in the bottom of the frame.

The Hearts then tallied five runs in the third for an 8-6 lead and tacked on another run in the top of the fourth to lead 9-6. However, Highland scored five in the bottom of the fourth to move ahead 11-9. The Hearts came back in the sixth with three runs to lead 12-11. But HIghland tallied four in the bottom of the seventh to pull out the 15-12 baseball victory Tuesday.

The Hearts had 14 hits led by Lane Koenig with a single, home run and an RBI, Brent Beals with a home run and two RBI, Colby Utz with a triple and two RBI, Parker Seachrist with two singles and an RBI and Ryan Sandifer and Brett Koester with two singles each.
