In area high school baseball action during the weekend, Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg captured two victories.

In a Friday contest, Windsor/Stew-Stras defeated Neoga 11-4. Neoga held a 3-2 lead in the top of the third but the Hatchets came back with a seven-run bottom of the frame.

Chase Thies led the winners with a single, two doubles and two RBI. Collin Ohnesorge, Derek Moshenrose and Christian Kessler added two singles each. Dalton Armes had a double and three RBI.

Neoga was led by Drew Ramert with three singles, Evan Fritcher with a double and two RBI and Layne Andrews a double.

In a Saturday game, Windsor/Stew-Stras blanked Nokomis 5-0, scoring two runs in the first and three in the fifth.

Nic Hutchinson had a single, two doubles and an RBI. Beau Bennett had two singles and two RBI and Kessler two singles. Josh Overbeck added a double.

Neoga also played a Saturday game and fell to Marshall 10-6. The Indians, once again, took the early lead 3-1 in the first and 4-3 in the third. Marshall tied in the fourth. Neoga took a 6-5 lead in the sixth but Marshall tallied five in the seventh.

Firtcher had two singles and two RBI while Wood had two singles for the Indians who drop to 7-14.

At Altamont

Altamont fell in two games Saturday. The Indians met Hillsboro and lost 14-8. The Indians led 4-0 until the fifth when Hillsboro tallied nine runs.

C. Miller and K. Miller had a single, double and an RBI each while Finn had two singles and an RBI and D. Miller two singles.

In the other contest, Edwards County edged Altamont 3-2 with a run in the bottom of the seventh.

Pemberton had a single, home run and one RBI for Altamont while Robbins had two singles and an an RBI and Finn a double.

The Indians lost a Friday contest to North Clay (Louisville), 9-3.

Altamont led 3-2 after four innings but the Cardinals had a seven-run fifth.

North Clay banged out three home runs in the game. Burkett had a single, home run and two RBI, Bloemer a double, home run and two RBI, Aldrich a home run and three RBI and Repking a double and an RBI.

C. Miller led Altamont with two singles.

 At Teutopolis

Teutopolis edged Williamsville with a run in the bottom of the seventh, 3-2 in Saturday action.

Williamsville took a 1-0 lead in the first and led 2-1 in the third. T-town tied in the sixth.

Bueker had two singles and a triple while Bloemer had a double for the Shoes. Collin Funneman moved his pitching record to 3-0 by throwing the final inning, allowing one hit and striking out three.

The Shoes improve to 23-6 while Williamsville drops to 22-8.

In Friday play, T-town downed Highland 10-2. The Shoes took a 3-0 first inning lead then tallied three more in the second and two in the third and fifth innings.

T-town had 12 hits led by Hartke with two singles, a double and two RBI, Jansen with a single, double and an RBI, Kenter with two singles, Belleville with two singles and two RBI and D. Thoele and Bueker with a double each. Thoele had two RBI.

South Central tallied two runs in the top of the seventh to pull out a 3-2 win over Dieterich Friday.

The Cougars held a 1-0 lead until the fifth when Dieterich tied and then took a 2-1 lead in the sixth.

The Cougars had only four hits, singles by Markley, Geiler, Matheny and McCown. McCown and Geiler had an RBI each while Davis added an RBI.

Dieterich was led by Flach with a double and Goedde with two singles.

St. Elmo/Brownstown tallied a 13-11 win over Mulberry Grove in action Friday.

SEB scored two in the first and third and three in the fourth, fifth and seventh innings. SEB had 18 hits led by Brown with three singles, a double, home run and three RBI. Oberlink had a single, double and five RBI. Maxey added three singles and two RBI. Parkson and C. Moss had three singles each. C. Moss added an RBI.

Brownstown/St. Elmo claimed a 15-7 win over Ramsey Friday. BSE took a 2-0 lead in the second but trailed Ramsey 7-6 going into the seventh. BSE then brought home nine runs for the victory.

Nate Philpot, had two doubles and two RBI while Bryton Pruett had a single, doulbe and three RBI. Lewis Brown added a double and two RBI and Wade Ireland two singles. BSE improved to 9-12-1.

Effingham JV Tournament

Effingham finished second in the junior varsity tournament Saturday.

The Hearts defeated Taylorville 4-3 to reach the championship game. EHS tallied single runs in the second and third and two in the fourth.

Poland and Pemberton had a double each. Pemberton drove in two runs.

That moved the Hearts into the championship game against Charleston and EHS fell 6-0.

The Hearts had only two hits led by Ballman and Marxman with a single each. Charleston had three pitchers who allowed the two hits, two walks and struck out six.
