TUSCOLA -- Effingham St. Anthony scored 30 runs in 10 innings in taking two victories at the Tuscola Baseball Invitational Saturday.

The Bulldogs pounded the host squad in the opener 16-0 as Colin Koester threw a no-hitter. Koester went the five innings allowing one walk and striking out six.

The Bulldogs had 14 hits that included five home runs. Drew Gibson led the way with a single, two doubles, a home run and three RBI while Brandon Puckett had a single, home run and three RBI,  Blake NIebrugge a single, home run and two RBI, Joseph Kabbes a home run and two RBI and Jacob Guy a grand slam with four RBI.

In the second contest, St. Anthony blanked Salt Fork-Sidell Jamaica 14-0. In this contest, the Bulldogs had 12 hits  led by Kabbes with a single, double and two RBI, Adam Levitt with two singles, Austin Kline with a double, Gibson with three singles and two RBI and Guy with two singles and three RBI.

Levitt was the winning pitcher on a four-hitter with no walks and eight strikeouts.

"We swung the bats very well all day," said St. Anthony Coach Kenny Koenig. "In the first game we scored nine runs in the first inning and hit three of our home runs in that inning. In the second game, we scored five runs in the first inning. Adam and Colin pitched great games."

At Charleston

Effingham swept an Apollo Conference doubleheader Saturday.

The Hearts edged Charleston 10-9 in the opening contest. The Trojans took a 2-0 first inning lead but the Hearts came back with back-to-back four run innings then tacked on two more in the sixth. EHS then had to hold off a sixth inning challenge by the Trojans who scored six runs.

Beals and Bateman had a single, home run and two RBI each for the Hearts while Sandifer added a double and three RBI, Hull a double, Koester two singles and two RBI and Utz two singles.

In the second game, the Hearts came from a 7-3 deficit with a five-run seventh inning to pull out the 8-7 victory.

Both teams had nine hits in the contest. Hull had a solo home run while Koester added a double, Sandifer two singles and Bateman two singles and an RBI.

The Hearts improve to 2-0 in the conference, 9-0 overall.

In junior varsity action, Effingham split with Charleston. The Trojans won the opening contest 6-3.

In the second game, the Hearts came back with a 4-2 victory to improve to 5-2 on the season.

At Kansas

Neoga pounded home lots of runs in taking a doubleheader victory over Tri-County Saturday.

In the opener, the Indians had a 13-1 win behind a 15-hit attack. The Indians ended the game in the fifth inning.

Layne Andrews had three singles and two RBI while Caleb Hill had a double, home run and an RBI, Justin Yurs three singles, a double and three RBI, Ross Moran two doubles and three RBI and Clayton Butler a solo home run.

In the second contest, Neoga was a 14-1 winner in five innings. In this one, the Indians had 18 hits.

Andrews had a single, two home runs and five RBI, HIll had two singles and a double, Yurs had two doubles, a home run and five RBI and Moran had two singles, a home run and two RBI.

The Indians improve to 3-5 on the season.

Brownstown/St. Elmo  competed in the Vandalia Round Robin Tournament Satudray and fell in two games.

The Eagles lost to Vandalia 6-0 in the opener. Vandalia scored all six runs in the third inning. Jones threw a no-hitter with one walk and five strikeouts.

In the second contest, Okawville was a 7-5 winner. BSE outhit the Vandals 13-5 but picked up four errors.

Wade Ireland had three singles while Hunter Strauch had two singles and an RBI and Dalton Denton two singles for BSE.

The squad drops to 2-8 on the season.

Hillsboro played host to Altamont and captured a doubleheader Saturday.

The Hiltoppers won the opening game 5-2 with a five-run first inning.

Altamont had three hits in the contest led by C. Miller with three singles and an RBI.

In the second game, Hillsboro took a 1-0 first inning lead and led 2-1 until the bottom of the fifth when four runs crossed the plate.

Altamont had three hits, all singles, by Robbins, Schmidt and Teasley.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg nabbed two victories in its own round robin tournament Saturday.

WSS tallied an 11-5 win over Robinson in the opening contest. The Hatchets led 6-0 after the first inning. Derek Moshenrose had a single, home run and one RBI while Josh Overbeck added a single, double and an RBI. Isaac Kramer had two singles and an RBI and Nic Hutchinson and Christian Kessler had a double each.

In the second contest, Robinson pounded Cerro Gordo/Bement 14-0.

The third game went to Windsor/Stew-Stras over Cerro Gordo/Bement 9-1.

WSS had a five-run second inning. Overbeck picked up the pitching win on a no-hitter through three innings, allowing no walks and striking out nine. Ben Beck threw three innings allowing one run on one hit, no walks and struck out four. Kramer finished out the final inning, allowing no hits, no walks and striking out two.

Kessler led the way with a single, double and two RBI. Beck and Overbeck had a double each.

In a Friday game, Windsor/Stew-Stras blanked Casey-Westfield 16-0 in five innings.

The Hatchet had 11 hits led by Overbeck with a single, home run and four RBI, Kramer a single, double and two RBI, Beau Bennett a single, double and two RBI, Kessler, two singles, a double and two RBI.

Moshenrose picked up the pitching win on a one-hitter with on walk and nine strikouts.

North Clay (Louisville) blanked Centralia 12-0 in five innings via the 10-run rule Saturday.

The Cardinals took a 3-0 first ininng lead, had a four-run fourth and a three-run fifth.

Repking threw three innings, allowing no hits with four walks and six strikeouts for the win. Jones came on to pitch the final two innings, allowing one hit two walks and striking out one.

Repking had two singles, a home run and three RBI, Aldrich, a double and an RBI, Bloemer, a single double and an RBI, Blank a double and two RBI, Burkett a single, double and three RBI, VanDyke two singles and an RBI and Repking, a double and an  RBI.

South Central competed in the Benton Tournament and split victories.

In the opening game, the Cougars claimed a 15-3 victory. The Cougars banged out 12 hits in the contest and were aided by four Johnston City errors.

Geiler had two singles, a double and three RBI while Lotz and Markley had two singles each. Lotz added two RBI. Harpster had a single, home run and four RBI.

Benton edged South Central 5-3. Benton and South Central were tied after six innings. Benton then tallied three runs in the top of the eighth. The Cougars came back with one in the bottom of the frame but fell short.

South Central outhit Benton 10-7. Harpster had three singles and an RBI while McCown had two singles and Blomberg a double.

In a Friday game, Carlyle downed South Central 9-1. Carlyle broke a 1-1 tie with a five-run third.

McCown led the Cougars with two singles while Brandt added a double and an RBI.
