Vandalia Downs CHBC In Baseball

VANDALIA -- Vandalia High School handed Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City a 14-4 loss in baseball competition Monday as the lone area contest that was played due to the weather.
The Vandals edged out to a 2-1 first inning lead. CHBC tied in the top of the third. Vandalia moved ahead 3-2 in the bottom of the third. CHBC came back to tie again in the top of the fourth. But Vandalia pushed across five runs in the bottom of the fourth, then had three run innings in the fifth and sixth for the 14-4 win in six innings.
CHBC had four hits, all singles, by Lowry, Miller, Clearwater and Duff. Lowry had an RBI.

At Teutopolis
Effingham headed to Teutopolis. The Wooden Shoes jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom ot the first but Effingham came back in the top of the second with three runs to take a 3-2 lead.
That's when the rains came. The game is suspended and could be made up on a future date. The two teams play again May 1.
