A walk-off sacrifice fly by Ryan Sandifer in the eighth inning gave Effingham an 11-10 win over Newton in baseball competition Monday.
Effingham built an eight-run lead then held a 10-3 lead in the fifth. Newton came back with five in the sixth and tied the score at 10-10 in the top of the seventh.
In the opening inning, the Hearts led 3-0 as Brent Beals doubled, scoring two of those runs. The Hearts then scored five runs in the second. Beals had a double and Zac Bateman doubled along with Zach Lee.
Newton had a big sixth inning thanks to a single by Bierman, a single by Weber and a triple by Meinhart.
The Hearts finished with 16 hits led by Beals with two singles, two doubles and four RBI, Bateman with two singles, two doubles and four RBI, Brett Koester with three singles and Lee with a double and an RBI.
Newton was led by Mitch Bierman with a single, triple and two RBI, Nate Meinhart with a triple and three RBI and Cole Horner with a double.

At Olney
Effingham St. Anthony fell to Olney 10-9 in Monday action.
The Bulldogs edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead as Hoene drew a walk, took second on a passed ball, took third on a single by Drew Gibson and came home on an error.
Olney came back to take a 2-1 lead in the third inning. St. Anthony tied in the fourth but the Tigers regained the lead in the bottom of the frame 7-3.
But the Bulldogs fought back with four runs in the sixth as Gibson led off with a double and came home on a double by Cade Walsh. Joseph Kabbes followed with the third double of the inning. Ethan Greene hit a single and Jacob Guy followed with a single. Austin Kline had the third single of the inning.
St. Anthony moved ahead 9-7 in the top of the seventh as Gibson singled, Walsh drew a walk and Guy singled.
But the Tigers came back in the bottom of the frame, scoring two runs to pull out the 10-9 victory.
Gibson had two singles, two doubles and an RBI for the Bulldogs while Bryar Jansen had a single and double and Kabbes a double and an RBI. Guy added three singles and two RBI and Kline two singles and an RBI.

Teutopolis had a three-run fifth inning and claimed a 5-3 victory over Breese Mater Dei Monday.
Mater Dei held a 1-0 lead in the second and pushed that to 3-2 in the fourth. T-town came back with the three-run fifth for the victory.
Kenter had a triple and drove in a run for the Shoes. Jansen had a double and two RBI. Kremer picked up the pitching win, going three innings, allowing no hits, no walks and striking out three.

North Clay (Louisville) edged Neoga 14-13 in action Monday.
Neoga ran off to an 8-2 opening inning lead and led 11-3 in the third. North Clay started its comeback with a three-run fourth and four-run sixth. Neoga scored a final run in the seventh.
The Cardinals used the long ball with four home runs in the game. Jones had a double, home run and one RBI while Repking had a single, home run and two RBI. Aldrich and Repking hit a solo shot each. Lovett added two singles and three RBI.
Neoga was led by Fritcher with a home run and three RBI, Yurs with two singles and an RBI and Andrews with two singles and an RBI.

Pana came calling and blanked Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 9-0 in action Monday.
Pana's Marston and Holthaus combined for a one-hitter. Marston went four innings, allowing two walks, striking out five and picking up the win. Holthaus went three innings with four walks and six strikeouts.
The lone hit for the Bobcats was a single by Lowry.

Dieterich had eight hits led by Evan Bohnhoff with two singles and an RBI.
