MOUNT ZION -- Effingham Junior High School nabbed one victory and suffered two losses at Mount Zion in baseball action Saturday.
EJHS opened with a 2-1 win over St. Joseph-Ogden. The Mustangs had four hits in the contest led by Loy with two singles and an RBI. Thompson picked up the pitching win in relief of Barnes in the fifth.
The Mustangs then fell to Mount Zion 12-0. Effingham had two hits, singles by B. Thompson and N. Thompson.
In the third contest, Effingham fell to Pleasant Plains 7-6. Pleasant Plains held a 4-2 lead after three innings then talled three more in the fourth. Effingham scored two in the fourth and two more in the fifth only to fall short.
Wolfe had a single and double for the Mustangs while Pals had a double and an RBI and B. Thompson a double and two RBI.

At Teutopolis
Teutopolis claimed a 6-2 win over Effingham St. Anthony in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday.
T-town held a 1-0 first inning lead before St. Anthony tied in the top of the second. The Shoes then moved ahead 5-1 in the bottom of the frame. Both teams scored a single run in the sixth.
T-town had nine hits led by Ruholl with a single and double, Deters with two singles and an RBI and Konkel with a double and two RBI.
Niebrugge was led by T-town with a double.
In the second game, T-town blanked St. Anthony 7-0. The Shoes had a three-run third.
Hardiek and Bloemer had two singles each for the winners while Buehnerkemper had two singles and an RBI.

Neoga defeated Altamont Lutheran 3-1 in action Saturday then edged South Central 7-6.
Treyton Vaughn led Neoga in the first game with two singles and two RBI.
In the second contest, Will O'Dell had two singles and three RBI, Treyton Vaughn two singles and Sean Schisler the game-winning hit with a single and two RBI.
Neoga is now 7-7 on the season.
