ODIN -- Effingham St. Anthony High School had the hot bats Wednesday as the Bulldogs banged out 16 hits in the contest and claimed a 17-5 win over host Odin in baseball action.

The Bulldogs edged out to a 3-0 first inning lead on four hits, a walk and a wild pitch. Drew Gibson had a double in the frame as did Joe Kabbes.

St. Anthony tacked on four more runs in the third on more doubles by Gibson and Kabbes along with Odin errors.

The Eagles pulled within 7-5 in the third inning but the Bulldogs scored one more in the fourth then put together a six-run sixth and a three-run seventh.

St. Anthony's Gibson had a single and four doubles with one RBI while Kabbes finished with a single, two doubles and four RBI. Ethan Greene added three singles and two RBI while Brandon Puckett had a whopping five singles and an RBI. All 16 hits came from four batters.

Colin Koester picked up the pitching win, going four innings, allowing four hits, five runs, no walks and four strikeouts. Adam Levitt and Bryar Jansen didn't allow a hit over the final three innings. Levitt had four strikeouts.

At Windsor

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg outlasted North Clay (Louisville) for an 8-7 victory Wednesday.

The Hatchets opened with a five-run first inning but North Clay came back to tie the score in the third. The Cardinals moved ahead 6-5 in the sixth and 7-5 in the top of the seventh. But Windsor/Stew-Stras mounted a furious rally and tallied three runs in the bottom of the final inning to pull out the victory.

Isaac Kramer had a single, double and one RBI while Derek Moshenrose had a single, double and two RBI. Josh Overbeck added two singles and two RBI while Logan Greuel had two singles and an RBI and Chase Thies two singles.

North Clay was led by Burkett with three singles and an RBI and Lovett with two singles and two RBI.

At Brownstown

Brownstown/St. Elmo pulled out an 8-7 victory over Mulberry Grove in action Wednesday.

Mulberry Grove held a 5-3 lead in the second inning. BSE came back to move ahead 6-5 in the bottom of the third and pushed that lead to 7-5 in the sixth. Mulberry Grove then tallied two runs in the top of the final inning to tie the score at 7-7.

St. Elmo/Brownstown then scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the frame.

BSE had eight hits led by Wade Ireland with two singles and an RBI and Bryton Pruett with two singles and two RBI. BSE moved to 2-0 in the Egyptian-Illini Conference and 2-2 overall.
