T-town Wins Own Wooden Bat Tournament

Teutopolis High School captured the championship of its own Wooden Bat Baseball Tournament Saturday.

The Wooden Shoes opened with a 6-0 win over Effingham St. Anthony. The two squads played to a 0-0 tie through five innings. T-town then tallied five runs in the sixth and added on a single run in the seventh.

T-town had five hits led by Bueker with a double and two RBI and Jansen with a double and an RBI.

Effingham was led by Gibson and Greene with a single each.

In the second contest, Dieterich edged North Clay (Louisville) 9-7. North Clay held a 7-4 lead after two innings but Dieterich came back with a five-run sixth to pull out the win.

The Cardinals outhit Dieterich 11-5 but committed three errors.

Goede led Dieterich with two hits and four RBI.

North Clay was led by Van Dyke with two hits and one RBI.

In the third place game, St. Anthony blanked North Clay 14-0.  Colin Koester threw a no-hitter with one walk and five strikeouts.

Bryar Jansen had a single, double and drove in three runs for the Bulldogs.

In the championship game, Teutopolis blanked Dieterich 2-0. The Wooden Shoes tallied two runs in the second inning.

The Shoes had five hits led by Hartke with a double and Belleville with a triple. Belleville picked up the pitching win on a two-hitter with one walk and 11 strikeouts.

Campton and C. Thoele had a single each.
