Team Verdeyen captured the championship of the Pony League Tournament Saturday at Community Park.
In opening round play, Team Braddy edged Team Hayes 2-1. Hayes took a 1-0 lead in the first before Braddy tied in the second then scored the winning run in the third.
Miles Waldhoff and Michael Wright had a single and double each while Wright added an RBI. Nolan Fearday added a double.
Wyatt Hayes led Team Hayes with a single and double. Parker Tardy and Hayden Wendling added two singles each. Tardy had an RBI.
In the second game, Team Clark edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead then tallied seven in the third and three in the fourth for an 11-5 win over Team Buzzard.
Drake Brown had a single, double and triple while Paetyn Gillman and Coen Pennington had a single and double each.
Stephen Harrison and Will Moser had a single and double each for Buzzard.
Team Emmerich then downed Team Allen 10-1, taking a seven-run first and scoring three in the second.
Team Emmerich had 20 hits led by Hayden Bushur with two singles and a double, Brayden Simmons and Eric Utz with a single and double each and Kallen Emmerich and Jackson Esker with a single and triple each.
Hunter Roley led Team Allen with a single and double.
Team Verdeyen then blanked Team Braddy 17-0. Verdeyen had 23 hits in the contest led by Max Flack with a triple, home run and five RBI, Austin Borries with two singles, a double and two RBI, Brady McDaniel with a single, triple and two RBI and Carter Verdeyen with two singles, a double and an RBI.
Nolan Fearday had two singles for Team Braddy.
Team Clark then edged Team Emmerich 14-13. Team Clark led 5-3 after the first but Emmerich came back with an eight run second to lead 11-9. Team Clark moved ahead 12-11 in the third before Emmerich pushed into the lead with two runs in the top of the fourth. Clark then tallied two in the bottom of the frame for the win.
Coen Pennington had three singles and a double for the winners while Henry Brent had a single, double, home run and three RBI, Dylan Wetherall a single, two doubles, a triple and three RBI and Drake Brown a single, two triples and three RBI and Payton Gilman a single, double and two RBI.
Keegan Koester had two doubles and three RBI for Emmerich while Marshall Schuler had a triple and an RBI and Eric Utz a double and three RBI.
In the championship game, Team Verdeyen had a nine-run fifth inning to tally an 18-3 victory over Team Clark.
Team Verdeyen had an offensive explosion with 23 hits led by Austin Borries with a single, double, triple and four RBI, Max Flack with a single, triple, home run and three RBI, Nolan Mihlbachler with two singles, a double and two RBI and Keenan Griffith with a double, triple and two RBI.
Team Clark was led by Drake Brown with a double, triple and an RBI, Henry Brent with a single, double and an RBI and Coen Pennington with a double.
