Effingham Post 120 Splits DH With Salem Post 128

Effingham Senior Legion Post 120 split a baseball doubleheader with Salem Post 128 Tuesday.
In the first game, Reed Schafer both hit and pitched well for Effingham but it wasn't enough as the Seniors fell to Salem, 6-4.
Schafer racked up two RBI on two hits with a single in the sixth and a double in the seventh. Schafer came on in relief to go 1.1 innings, allowing one hit.
The top of the first saw Post 120 take a 1-0 lead on Bryar Jansen's single. Jansen stole second and Lane Koenig singled him home.
Salem came back to tie the score in the fourth and then move ahead for good in the fifth with four runs.
Effingham tallied three runs in the seventh. An error and a two-run double by Schafer sparked the rally.
Zach Bateman had two singles for Effingham.
Post 120 beat Salem, 6-2 in five innings in the second contest behind Jansen who went two for three with two singles and an RBI.
Schafer went the distance, throwing a two-hitter with two walks and four strikeouts.
The two teams were tied at 1-1 in the first inning before Post 120 moved ahead 3-1 in the second on an RBI double by Schafer and an RBI single by Jansen. Nick Miller finished with two singles as did Bateman who also added an RBI.
