Effingham Post #120 earned a split in Senior Legion baseball action Wednesday night at Robinson.

Robinson won the opener 2-1 despite a great pitching performance by Brandon Puckett. Puckett pitched all six innings, allowing two runs, one earned, on just one hit and three walks while striking out 11. Lucas Roth pitched a five-hitter for Robinson to earn the win.

Effingham took a 1-0 lead in the first after Lane Koenig singled in Bryar Jansen, but that proved to be the only run they would score in the contest. Jansen, Tyler Zuber, Michael Woltman and Kyle Bourgeois also had hits, while Koenig and Ethan Greene earned walks.

Effingham bounced back in the nightcap, though, downing Robinson 8-1.

Effingham again scored a run in the first, but Robinson scored in the bottom of the frame. Effingham came right back, though, with a run in the second to regain the lead, then scored four times in the fourth inning and twice in the fifth to seal the win.

Nick Miller got the win, going four innings and allowing just an unearned run on three hits and a walk while fanning four. Drew Gibson pitched the final inning and was perfect, striking out the side.

Lane Koenig singled twice and scored, Blake White doubled and scored, Bryan Jansen drew a walk, Tyler Zuber doubled and drove in a run, Zac Bateman singled and scored, Michael Woltman doubled, Brandon Puckett singled and walked, scored and drove in a run, Nick Miller singled and drove in a run, Colby Utz singled twice, scored and drove in a run, and Ethan Greene scored a run.

Effingham Post #120 is now 12-6 on the season.
