Prized prospect Willson Contreras received a standing ovation as he made his way to the plate in the sixth inning for his first major league at-bat.

One pitch later, the Wrigley Field crowd was back on its feet demanding a curtain call.

Contreras crushed the first pitch he saw in the big leagues for a two-run home run, Kyle Hendricks struck out a career-high 12 in six innings and the Chicago Cubs completed a sweep of the fading Pittsburgh Pirates with a 10-5 victory Sunday night.

"It's incredible," a smiling Contreras said. "I don't have the words to explain how happy I am."

Contreras, called up from Triple-A on Friday, pinch hit for Hendricks in the sixth and sent A.J. Schugel's changeup an estimated 415 feet to center. The cheering didn't let up until the 24-year-old Venezuelan catcher hopped out of the dugout and tipped his cap.

A fan even returned the ball to Contreras, which sat in his locker.

"It's a dream come true," he said.

Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo hit consecutive home runs in the third and Javier Baez added a solo shot for the Cubs, all off rookie Jameson Taillon (1-1). Addison Russell hit a two-run shot in the seventh for the Cubs, who have eight homers in two games.

Josh Harrison's solo home run was the lone blemish off Hendricks (5-6), who walked none and allowed seven hits. His previous career high was nine strikeouts.

Rangers 5, Cardinals 4

Sitting on the bench, Jurickson Profar knew he might be called on to hit for the Texas Rangers.

In the big moment, Profar came through when he hit a two-run, bases-loaded pinch-hit single in the eighth, lifting the Rangers to a 5-4 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday.

It was Profar's first pinch-hit at-bat this season.

"The whole game, I was ready for that," Profar said. "I was just sitting there but everybody on the bench has got to be ready to hit. I was just looking for my pitch. It was a pitch in the zone so I could drive it."

With two outs in the eighth, Rougned Odor doubled off reliever Matt Bowman (1-2). He gave an intentional walk to Mitch Moreland. Elvis Andrus grounded to short and Moreland was called out at second. After a challenge, the call was overturned.

"That was a good job by Mitch beating out the ground ball and giving me a chance," Profar said.

Profar hit for reliever Tony Barnette. Batting left-handed, Profar lined a 2-2 pitch into left to drive in the winning runs.

Indians 3, White Sox 2

Jose Ramirez's two-out single with the bases loaded in the 10th inning scored Rajai Davis as the Cleveland Indians completed a three-game sweep of the Chicago White Sox with a 3-2 win on Sunday.

Ramirez's hit off David Robertson (0-1) skipped past first baseman Jose Abreu and into right field for Cleveland's second last-at bat win of the series.

Cleveland won Friday night's game when Carlos Santana hit a leadoff homer in the ninth off Nate Jones. The Indians, who lead the AL Central, are 7-2 against the White Sox, including six straight wins.

Davis doubled to start the 10th, his fourth hit of the game. Following Jason Kipnis' sacrifice, Francisco Lindor and Mike Napoli were walked intentionally to load the bases.

After Santana fouled out, Ramirez came through with his winning hit. Dan Otero (2-0) struck out Abreu with a runner on first to end the 10th.
