St. A Wins NTC Championship, Neoga Third

ST. ELMO -- Effingham St. Anthony captured the championship of the National Trail Conference Baseball Tournament Tuesday at Deken Park.
The Bulldogs downed South Central 4-1. Ben Hecht picked up the pitching win on a two-hitter with five walks and 16 strikeouts.
St. Anthony scored all four of its runs in the fifth inning behind three hits. South Central's run came in the sixth behind two hits. Daniel Diss suffered the pitching loss on a three-hitter with seven strikeouts and nine walks.
In the third place game, Neoga edged Stewardson-Strasburg 6-4. Both teams tallied four runs in the third inning. The score was tied until the sixth when Neoga brought home two more runs to pull out the victory.
Neoga had six hits in the contest led by Riley Walk with a single, home run and three RBI and Tim Yurs with two singles. Tyler Romack picked up the pitching win on a four-hitter with one walk and 10 strikeouts.
Gunner Theis hit a home run and drove in four runs for Stew-Stras.
Neoga finishes the season at 8-10-1 while Stew-Stras ends at 11-7.
