St. Elmo Wins NTC Consolation Championship

ST. ELMO – St. Elmo High School captured the consolation championship of the National Trail Conference Baseball Tournament Monday evening at Deken Park.
The Eagles beat Dieterich 8-3. Dieterich stepped out to a 2-0 first inning lead and held that until the third inning when St. Elmo bats came alive and the Eagles tallied four runs. St. Elmo tacked on another run in the fourth and three more in the fifth. Dieterich’s final run came in the sixth.
Both teams had six hits in the contest but the big statistic came in the error department where Dieterich had five.
Dalton Parks was the winning pitcher going all seven innings, allowing six hits, four walks and striking out six. Nick Bauer led St. Elmo with a single, double and an RBI while Noah Flowers had a single and two RBI. Dieterich was led by Tanner Traub with a single and a double and Garrett Einhorn with two singles.
Dieterich finishes at 7-13 while St. Elmo finished at .500 with a 10-10 mark.
