NEOGA -- Effingham St. Anthony came calling and blanked Neoga 8-0 in baseball competition Wednesday evening.

The two teams went scoreless in the first inning but St. Anthony tallied three in the second, one in the third, two in the fourth and two in the sixth

The Bulldogs had eight hits led by Ethan Green and Brandon Puckett with two singles and an RBI each, Drew Gibson with a double and two RBI and Austin Kline with a double and an RBI.

Drew Ramert and Matt Kingery had a single each for Neoga. The Indians drop to 14-9 on the season.

Altamont handed Newton a 10-5 loss.

Newton took a 3-1 lead after two innings but Altamont tallied six in the third and finished out with three in the fourth.

Brandon Hosick had a single, double and an RBI for the winners while Jake Finn had a double, home run and two RBI. Kaleb Whitt had two singles.

Newton was led by Nate Meinhart with a single, double and two RBI, Luke Geier with a home run and two RBI and Tim Weber with three singles.

Salem blanked South Central 10-0 in five innings via the 10-run rule.

The Wildcats had 12 hits while Bunnell held the Cougars to three hits while striking out four.

Flora leaped out to a 7-0 first inning lead and tallied an 11-1 win over North Clay (Louisville) in five innings.

Armstrong picked up the pitching win on a five-hitter with seven strikeouts.

North Clay was led by Brandon Repking with a double and Aldrich with a double and an RBI.
