Effingham High School beat Neoga 9-1 in baseball action Tuesday.

Zac Bateman racked up six RBI on three hits for the Hearts. He doubled in the first, singled in the fifth and homered in the seventh.

Mason Hull picked up the pitching win, allowing no earned runs, eight hits, no walks while striking out four in six innings.

The Hearts stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the first with four runs on a two-run double by Bateman and a two-run homer by Brent Beals.

Neoga was led by Matt Kingery with a single and double and Justin Yurs with two singles. The Indians drop to 11-6 on the season.

 At Windsor

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg took the early lead and never relinquished it in a 13-3 five inning victory over Cumberland Tuesday.

WSS held a 3-0 lead until the third when the Pirates tied the score. But the Hatchets came back with a five-run fourth and a five-run fifth.

WSS had 12 hits led by Tyler Kemper with a home run and three RBI, Isaac Kramer with three singles and three RBI, Chase Thies with a single and triple and Derek Moshenrose with two singles and an RBI.

Cumberland was led by Justin Brown with a single and double and Hayden Kanizer with a double and an RBI.

At Brownstown

Dieterich came from behind to score two runs in the top of the seventh and pull out a 3-2 win over Brownstown/St. Elmo.

The Movin' Maroons held a 1-0 lead in the first before BSE tied in the fifth and took a 2-1 lead in the sixth.

Schmidt picked up the pitching win on a five-hitter with three walks and four strikeouts.

Thoele had two singles and Campton two singles and two RBI for the winners.  BSE was led by Wade Ireland with two singles and an RBI.

BSE drops to 9-10 on the season.

At Brownstown

Altamont had a two-run fourth and pulled out a 3-2 win over Flora for the Indians.

Flora held a 1-0 lead in the first and a 2-1 lead in the second.

N. Miller, Wolff and Whitt had two singles each for the Indians. Wolff and Miller tallied an RBI each.

C. Miller captured the pitching win on an eight-hitter with three walks and five strikeouts.

At Altamont

Newton picked up a 6-2 victory over Mattoon Tuesday.

The two squads were tied at 1-1 until the third inning when Newton moved ahead 2-1. The Eagles had 15 hits in the contest led by Mitch Bierman with three singles, Brock Mammoser with two singles and two  RBI and John Grunloh with two singles and a triple.

North Clay (Louisville) came calilng and claimed a 2-1 win over South Central.

The Cougars held a 1-0 lead until the fourth when North Clay tied the score then took a 2-1 lead in the sixth and that's all the runs the Cardinals needed.

South Central outhit North Clay 10-3. The Cougars were led by Gavin Ratermann with a singel and double. The Cougars drop to 8-5.

At Farina
