Effingham St. Anthony stepped out to a 3-0 first inning lead and went on to beat Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick in high school baseball action Tuesday.
BCCH came back in the top of the second to pull within 3-2 but St. Anthony tallied two more in the bottom of the frame then had a six-run fourth and finished the game in the fifth via the 10-run rule with a run.
Drew Gibson, Ethan Greene and Jacob Guy had two singles each for the Bulldogs. Greene had two RBI while Gibson had one RBI. Greg Utz had a single and drove in two runs.
BCCH was led by Grove with two doubles and an RBI. Those were the lone two hits given up by Colin Koester. Koester pitched all five innings allowing two hits, two runs, one walk and striking out eight.

In a game regularly scheduled for Altamont but moved to Vandalia, the Indians handed the Vandals a 9-3 loss.
Altamont had 11 hits in the contest led by Klaiton Wolff with a home run and three RBI, Devon Guerrettaz with two doubles and two RBI, Nick Miller and Caden Miller with a single and double each, Kaleb Whitt with a single, double and an RBI and Jake Finn with a double and an RBI.
N. Miller picked up the pitching win on a six-hitter with two walks and two strikeouts.

This one couldn't have gotten much closer as Newton edged Dieterich 1-0. The lone run for the game came in the second inning.
The Eagles had five hits led by Geier and Weber with a double each. Weber drove in the run.
Dieterich had only two hits, a double by Goedde and a single by Radloff.
Meinhart and Mammoser combined to throw the two-hitter. Meinhart gave up the two hits with two walks and two strikeouts. Mammoser came in in relief in the sixth and threw a no-hitter with no walks and three strikeouts.

All three runs came in the top of the first inning. The Cougars had six hits led by Ratermann with two singles and Markley with a double and an RBI.
Geiler moved his pitching record to 2-1 with a four-hitter, four walks and four strikeouts.
