EHS Beats Dieterich, BSE, T-town, Newton Win

After seven lead changes in Thursday's high school baseball game, Effingham finally pulled out a 6-4 win over Dieterich.
The Hearts took the lead in the fifth inning and held on. A passed ball scored Brett Koester to give EHS the lead for good.
Brent Beals racked up two RBI on two singles in the second and fourth innings.
Dieterich's lineup had no answer to Mason Hull who held the Maroons hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.
Dieterich jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. A single by Poe brought home Goedde to start the inning off.
But the Hearts came back with a three-run second. The Maroons then pushed ahead again in the top of the fifth, scoring three runs. But EHS tallied two in the bottom of the frame and finished off with one in the sixth.
Along with Beals, Reed Schafer had two singles and tallied an RBI.
Dieterich was led by Thoele with two singles and an RBI.

Brownstown/St. Elmo blanked Pana 10-0 in five innings via the 10-run rule Thursday.
BSE stepped out to a 3-0 first inning lead then had a five-run second.
Cole Horner had a single, double and two RBI while Landon Feezel had a single, home run and three RBI. Isaac Maxey chipped in with two singles and two RBI.
Noah Flowers pitched a one-hitter with one walk and eight strikeouts.
BSE is now 4-7 on the season and back in action Saturday at Vandalia in a 10 a.m. contest.

At Highland
Teutopolis High School scored two runs in the third and that was it for the contest, but it proved enough in a 2-1 win over Highland Thursday.
The Wooden Shoes had only two hits, singles by Jacob Roepke and Lane Belleville. Roepke and Devin Smith had an RBI each.
Austin Johnson picked up the pitching win on a five-hitter with three walks and two strikeouts. The Shoes are now 9-5 on the season.

Newton blanked Casey-Westfield to the tune of 10-0 in six innings Thursday.
The Eagles took a 2-0 first inning lead then had a five-run fourth and a three-run fifth. Mitch Jansen picked up the pitching win, going five innings, allowing two hits, and striking out three.
Bierman had a single, double and three RBI while Geier added two singles and two RBI, Grunloh a single, triple and an RBI, Weber a triple and an RBI and Prater a double and an RBI.
Newton moved to 3-4 on the season.
