Bulldogs Win Vandalia Round Robin; Other Weekend Scores

The St. Anthony Bulldogs captured the Vandalia Round-Robin Tournament Saturday.
The Bulldogs downed Cumberland 10-0 and defeated Vandalia 12-1. Vandalia pounded Cumberland 15-2 in the other game.
Drew Gibson picked up the win in the first game, while Brandon Puckett won the other contest.

The Teutopolis Wooden Shoes took two losses on Saturday.
The Shoes fell 17-12 to Stillman Valley and then lost to St. Joe-Ogden 8-0 in the other contest.
In the Stillman Valley loss, Austin Johnson started and allowed five earned runs on four hits and three walks in 2-2/3 innings while recording one strikeout. Lane Belleville pitched one inning and allowed nine earned runs on three hits and four walks while striking out one hitter. Belleville took the loss. Jason Kenter retired one batter but gave up a hit, Mette pitched an inning and allowed two earned runs on two hits and a walk, and Bloemer pitched an inning and allowed a run on one hit, that being a home run, and walked a batter.

In the loss to St. Joe-Ogden, Devin Smith pitched 5-1/3 innings, allowing seven runs, six earned, on 10 hits and a walk while fanning three. Lane Belleville pitched the final inning, allowing an earned run on two hits while fanning one batter.
At the plate, Devin Smith--double; Kyle Smith--walk. 14 Shoes batters struck out in the contest.
Teutopolis is now 7-4 on the spring.
The Shoes posted a 9-6 win over Salem on Friday, ripping 12 hits. Ethyn Dust got the win in relief. John Kreke doubled and singled and drove in four runs to pace the Shoes attack.

Altamont swept a doubleheader from Elverado in Elkville on Saturday.
The Indians won one contest 14-1 in five innings and captured the other game 14-3 in five innings.
Kaleb Whitt went the distance in the one contest, allowing the one run on four hits and three walks while fanning six.

Brownstown/St. Elmo swept a round robin Saturday, downing Martinsville 10-1 and then defeating Alden-Hebron 15-2 five innings.
Lewis Brown pitched the first game for BSE, allowing one run on three hits and four walks while fanning 10.

South Central posted a 3-2 win over Elgin Westminster Christian Saturday.
The Cougars took a 1-0 lead in the fourth, then fell behind 2-1 in the fifth, but scored a run in the sixth to tie the game, and Gavin Ratermann singled with two outs and runners on the corners in the bottom of the seventh to win the game.
Ratermann pitched the first five innings, while Ryan Matheny finished up and claimed the win.
Elgin Ratermann won the JV game 17-4 in five innings.

Neoga won 12-2 in five innings over Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Saturday.
Lee Nees got the win, allowing no runs or hits while walking one and striking out six in three innings of work.
