EHS, Neoga, T-town Nab Baseball Victories

Effingham High School handed Newton a 9-3 loss in baseball action Monday.
The Hearts scored in all seven innings. EHS edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead then had a one-run inning in the second and third, two runs in the fourth and fifth and single runs in the sixth and seventh.
Newton tallied a run in the third and two in the sixth.
The Hearts banged out 18 hits in the contest. Lane Koenig had a single, home run and three RBI while Brent Beals added three singles, Hudson Graham two singles and an RBI, Zac Bateman two singles and an RBI, Mason Hull a double and an RBI, Blake White three singles and Reed Schafer three singles and two RBI.
Newton was led by Brock Mammoser with a double and Luke Geier with a double and two RBI.
Brent Beals picked up the pitching win. He allowed six hits, one walk and had 13 strikeouts.

At Neoga
Neoga bounced North Clay (Louisville) to the tune of 12-2 in five innings via the 10-run rule Monday.
The Indians stepped out to a 3-0 first inning lead and never looked back. Guy Walk picked up the pitching win, throwing a three-hitter with three walks and 11 strikeouts.
Matt Kingery banged out two home runs, a three-run shot in the first inning and a grand slam in the second. He finished with eight RBI. The Indians improve to 1-3 on the season.

At Sullivan
Teutopolis had 10 hits and was aided by five Sullivan errors in an 8-2 victory.
The Wooden Shoes held a 1-0 lead in the second then added on two runs in the third. Sullivan tallied a run in the fourth. T-town then came back with four in the fifth and one in the sixth.
The Shoes had 10 hits led by Austin Johnson with a single, home run and two RBI.

Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick came calling and Pana wasn't a pleasant host as the Panthers ended the game in the fifth via the 10-run rule, 12-1.
Pana had 14 hits in the contest while Zahradka allowed only three BCCH hits. Rexroad, Kirchhofer and Grove had a single each. Kirchhofer added an RBI.
