Shoes, Eagles Pick Up High School Baseball Wins

TEUTOPOLIS -- Teutopolis High School opened the spring baseball season with a bang Thursday evening as the Wooden Shoes bounced Neoga 10-0 in five innings.

T-town scored eight runs in the second inning then tacked on the final two in the fourth. Matt Koester picked up the pitching win on a one-hitter with two strikeouts.

The Shoes had 10 hits in the game led by Cody Jansen with a single, two doubles and an RBI, Jacob Roepke with a triple and an RBI and Mat Weber with a single, double and three RBI.

Neoga's lone hit came from Hill with a single.

T-town is back in action at Salem Saturday in a doubleheader starting at 11 a.m. Neoga is at Central A&M Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at 10 a.m.

At Newton

Newton High School blanked Robinson 12-0 in five innings. The Eagles banged out 12 hits in the contest and was aided by three Robinson errors.

Newton stepped out to a 5-0 first inning lead then had a four-run second. Bierman had a double, triple and drove in three runs while Mammoser had a single, double and an RBI. Grunloh had a single, double and four RBI.

At Windsor

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg put up a good fight but Shelbyville eventually claimed a 7-6 victory.

The Hatchets trailed Shelbyville 3-0 going into the fourth then tallied six runs and held a 6-3 lead until the top of the seventh. Shelbyville then came back with four runs for the win.

Windsor/Stew-Stras had seven hits in the contest led by Josh Overbeck and Christian Kessler with two singles and two RBI each.

At Windsor

At Marshall

Cumberland came calling and picked up an 8-3 win over host Marshall.

The two squads were tied at 2-2 after the opening quarter. The Pirates then had a three-run sixth and a three-run seventh.

Logan Dallape had two singles and four RBI for the Pirates while Justin Brown had two singles and an RBI and Reid Mathenia two singles.
