ST. ELMO -- Effingham St. Anthony is going to the Class 1A State Baseball Tournament after winning the St. Elmo Sectional Saturday.

The Bullpups trailed Okaw Valley 3-0 after the first inning then pulled within 3-2 in the second inning. The Bulldogs tallied two more in the fourth to pull out the victory.

St. Anthony banged out 12 hits in the contest led by Gibson with two singles, a double and an RBI, Jansen two singles, a double and two RBI and Blanchette a single and a double.

The Bullpups improved to 10-7 and will now play at noon Friday against Champaign St. Matthew at Peoria.

Class 2A Casey-Westfield Regional

Jasper County edged Teutopolis 1-0 to win the championship of the Class 2A Casey-Westfield Regional.

The lone run came in the second inning as Mitch Bierman scored. Jasper County had only two hits, singles by Tim Weber and Collin Harris, who drove in the winning run.

Jasper County is now 14-2 and advances to the Class 2A State Tournament Friday at Eastside Centre in East Peoria and will face Morris Saratoga at noon.
