The Teutopolis Wooden Shoes edged the St. Anthony Bulldogs 1-0 in high school baseball action Friday afternoon.
Teutopolis pushed across the lone run of the game in the bottom of the sixth, when Kyle Pruemer drove in Goldstein. Jared Waldhoff pitched a two-hit shutout for the win, walking three but fanning nine. Ben Hecht was the tough luck loser for the Bulldogs, allowing the one run on just two hits, walking four and striking out five.
Hecht and Zach Gardewine got the St. Anthony hits, while Jacob Lorenz, Hecht and Alex Hoelscher reached base via walks. Goldstein and Pruemer got the only two hits for the Wooden Shoes. Bobby Wenthe, Chase Wendling, Pruemer and Reed Hardiek reached on walks for Teutopolis.
Teutopolis improved to 14-0 on the fall with the victory, and the Shoes are back in action today with games at Rend Lake College.
