St. Elmo Takes Third, Patoka First in EIC Tourney

VANDALIA -- St. Elmo tallied a 4-1 victory over Brownstown to capture third place in the Egyptian-Illini Conference Baseball Tournament Thursday.
The two teams were scoreless through three innings before St. Elmo tallied a run in the fourth then tacked on one in the fifth and two more in the sixth. Brownstown's lone run came in the seventh.
Connor Beasley picked up the pitching win to improve to 5-3. He threw all seven innings allowing two hits, one walk and striking out 10. Both hits came from Austin Hunter with two infield singles.
Beasley had a single, double and drove in two runs. Dalton Parks added a double. St. Elmo improves to 7-8 and returns to action Monday against Ramsey.
Brownstown drops to 6-11 and is back in play today against Altamont.
In the championship game, Patoka downed Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick 7-2. Patoka held a 4-1 lead after three innings then tallied three in the fourth. BCCH had only one hit and committed five errors.
Austin Rexroad got the lone hit for BCCH with a single. The Eagles drop to 4-11 on the season.
