Teutopolis and St. Anthony fans sat together rooting each other on during state tournament baseball action at Eastside Centre in East Peoria.
Effingham St. Anthony and Teutopolis just finished runs at junior high state baseball tournaments.

Normally, rivals during the regular season, these two teams came together during their runs for state titles.

St. Anthony competed in the Class 1A State Tournament at Eastside Centre in East Peoria and fell in opening round play to Normal Metcalf. The Bullpups finished with a 16-4 record.

Teutopolis competed in the Class 2A State Tournament, also at Eastside Centre and finished by winning the state championship. The Shoes handily beat St.Joseph 18-0 in the opening contest then won over HOopestone Area 8-4. In the championship game agaist Joliet St. Raymond, the Shoes won 8-0. It was the third straight year, T-town has claimed the state title.

“Our St. Anthony Junior High baseball team would like to congratulate Teutopolis Junior High on their state win,” said St. Anthony Junior High School Principal, Brandi Borries. “We appreciate and enjoy their friendship and support at state finals over the weekend. They are definitely a class act team.

“This is the second year in a row that their team has sat with our fans to cheer on the Bullpups during their run at the state championship. I think it speaks volumes that we can be highly competitive when we're in Effingham County but that we're super supportive of each other when we're not.”
