Teutopolis Wooden Shoes baseball coach Justin Fleener was surprised when his team arrived back in T-Town Friday evening after a battle with longtime foe St. Anthony.

Surprised as in a big banner and many people who turned out at Teutopolis High School for a celebration commemorating Fleener's 400th career win as Wooden Shoes coach.

Fleener, a Clay County native and still a resident there, is in his 16th season as baseball coach at Teutopolis and it's been quite a ride, including back-to-back state championships in 2010 and 2011. The Shoes have captured third place honors at State three times under Fleener. The team has won 30 or more games eight times, including the past six seasons.

This team is made in the mold of other successful squads. A 5-3 win over St. Anthony Friday night allowed the Shoes to finish their fall season with an 18-0 record.
