Wooden Shoes Continue Undefeated Fall Season; Other Thursday Results

The Teutopolis Wooden Shoes pushed their fall record to 17-0 Thursday with a 13-2 six-inning win over the Altamont Indians.

The game was a low-scoring affair through the early innings with the Shoes leading 1-0 after three. T-Town added four runs in the top of the fourth, but Altamont scored twice in the bottom of the frame to pull within 5-2. That's when Teutopolis unloaded, scoring three times in the fifth and five runs in the sixth to win by the 10-run rule.

Austin Johnson got the win for Teutopolis, improving to 4-0 on the fall. Johnson allowed just one earned run on four hits, walking three and fanning three. Nick Miller took the loss for the Indians, allowing eight runs on 10 hits in 4-1/3 innings, walking three and striking out three. Caden Miller pitched 1-2/3 innings, giving up five runs on three hits and three walks while striking out two.

The Brownstown/St. Elmo Bombers are not only the Egyptian Illini Conference regular season baseball champs, but they also won the conference tournament Thursday.

BSE defeated Mulberry Grove, 6-0, to capture the round robin tournament championship. Noah Flowers pitched a one-hit shutout for the win to improve to 3-1 on the fall, walking two and striking out nine. Joey Linnabery's infield single in the seventh was the only Mulberry Grove hit. Huhn took the loss.

BSE scored twice in the third inning, added a run in the fifth and scored three times in the sixth. 

At the plate for BSE: Isaac Maxey singled; Landon Feezel doubled and singled and drove in a run, Noah Flowers singled and drove in a run, Nate Philpot singled and drove in a run, and Hunter Seaton had two base hits.

Brownstown/St. Elmo is now 7-8 on the fall.

Meanwhile, Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick took second place in the tournament with a 9-8 win over Ramsey.

Ramsey took a 2-0 lead in the first and made it 4-0 in the third before BCCH scored twice in the bottom of the frame. BCCH pulled in front 5-4 with three runs in the fifth. Ramsey regained the lead 8-5 in the sixth, but BCCH tied it at eight in the bottom of the frame, then scored the winning run in the bottom of the eighth.

Austin Rexroad got the win, while Black took the loss. Rexroad picked up the victory with five innings of relief, striking out 10.

Kaleb Doty singled in two runs during the sixth inning rally to tie the game. Chad Kirchhofer hit a sacrifice fly to left to bring home the winning run in the eighth.

BCCH finished 2-1 in the tournament to earn the second place finish.

Odin defeated Dieterich 7-5 in baseball action Thursday.

Odin took a 1-0 lead in the first, but Dieterich bounced back to pull ahead 2-1 in the third. Odin scored three times in the bottom of the third, though, to move back in front 4-2. Dieterich came right back to tie the game 4-4 with two runs in the fourth. Odin scored twice in the fifth to move back ahead 6-4 and each team scored in the sixth to account for the final score.

Schmidt took the loss for Dieterich, allowing six runs, four earned, in 4-1/3 innings, allowing five hits and two walks while striking out six. Goedde pitched 1-1/3 innings, allowing an unearned run on three hits, and Charlie Thoele picked up the final out.
