Shoes Beat Cobden, South Central Edges Dieterich

LOUISVILLE -- Teutopolis and South Central picked up victories in the North Clay (Louisville) Baseball Showcase Saturday.

South Central opened the day with a 4-3 victory over Dieterich. Dieterich held a 2-0 lead until the fifth when the Cougars tallied four runs. The Maroons made a comeback bid in the bottom of the seventh only to fall short.

Harmier had a single and double for the winners while McCown hit a home run and drove in all four runs for the Cougars. Ratermann added three singles.

Dieterich was led by Flach with two singles.

In the third contest of the day, Teutopolis banged out 12 hits and tallied an 11-2 win over Cobden.

The Wooden Shoes took a 1-0 first inning lead then had a three-run second, a two-run fourth, a four-run fifth and scored a single run in the sixth.

Devin Smith pitched a three-hitter with two walks and five strikeouts for the win.

T-town was led in hitting by Lane Belleville with a home run and two RBI, Austin Johnson with three singles and an RBI and Carson Hartke with two singles. T-town is now 13-0 on the season and will host Odin today.

Other games on the day were St. Anthony against Cisne and North Clay facing Cobden.
