Effingham hosted a Class 2A Boys Baseball Regional Tuesday and claimed a 7-5 win over Jasper County.
The Mustangs stepped out to a 6-3 first inning lead then had to hold off Jasper County. Jackson Lee and Dawson Whitten had two singles each for the Mustangs. Lee added two RBI.
Jasper County was led by Wise with a single, double and three RBI and Rise and Tharp with two singles and an RBI each. Schafer added a double.
Effingham, seeded fourth, will now face top-seeded Mattoon at 10 a.m. Saturday.

At Findlay
Effingham Sacred Heart picked up a first rournd victory in the Class 1A Findlay Okaw Valley Regional Tuesday.
The Shamrocks edged Ramsey 7-5. Sacred Heart will now meet Effingham St. Anthony at 10 a.m. Saturday followed by Findlay Okaw Valley against Mulberry Grove at 12:30.
At Sigel
Newton St. Thomas advanced from the Class 1A Sigel St. Michael Regional Tuesday.
St. Thomas defeated Oblong 9-6. The fourth-seeded squad moves into a meeting with top-seeded Dieterich at 10 a.m. Saturday.
The second game Saturday will feature second-seeded St. Michael against third-seeded Neoga at noon.
Class 2A Teutopolis Regional
Casey-Westfield and Cumberland both advanced after opening round play in the Class 2A Teutopolis Regional.
Casey-Westfield won over Palestine 14-11 and advances to face top-seeded Teutopolis at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Cumberland trounced Red Hill (Bridgeport) 17-0. Cumberland will face second-seeded Lawrenceville Parkview at noon Saturday.
At Shelbyville
Brownstown/St. Elmo bounced Beecher City-Cowden-Herrick 15-0 in the Class 2A Shelbyville Moulton Regional.
In the seconed contest, Sullivan pummeled Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg 17-3.
BSE advances to face top-seeded Shelbyville Moulton at 10 a.m. Saturday followed by second-seeded Altamont against Sullivan at noon.
At Louisville
North Clay (Louisville) split a doubleheader with Salem Tuesday.
Salem won the opener 6-5. The score was tied at 4-4 after five innings. Salem took a 7-4 lead in the top of the sixth and North Clay came back with a run in the bottom of the frame only to fall short.
North Clay had nine hits led by Clifton, Bible and C. Fleener with two singles each. Bible added an RBI.
In the second contest, North Clay captured a 6-2 victory with two-run innings in the first, third and fourth.
North Clay had four hits led by Zimmerman with two singles and an RBI. Clifton had three RBI.

In a regular season contest, Altamont trounced Neoga 21-1 in five innings. Moore picked up the one-hit pitching win.
Reardon had two singles, a double and two RBI for the winners while Cripe had two singles and an RBI, Kollmann a double and three RBI and L. Reardon two singles and two RBI.
Altamont improves to 12-5.
