CHARLESTON -- Effingham Junior High School fell to Charleston in baseball competition Thursday, 6-2.

Charleston edged out to a 2-0 first inning lead then had a four-run fourth. Both teams had three hits in the contest. Kyle Pemberton, Colin Fielitz and Tate Niebrugge had a single each for the Mustangs.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis Junior High School claimed both A and B victories Thursday.

T-town won the A game over Flora 6-1. T-town took a 2-0 first inning lead then had a three-run second. Hemmen, Hardiek, Ungrund and Addis combined to pitch a one-hitter. Hemmen picked up the win allowing one hit, one walk and striking out four.

The Shoes had four hits led by Hardiek, Ungrund and McMahon with a double and an RBI each.

In the B contest, T-town trounced Newton St. Thomas 13-1. Overbeck, Bloemer, Hardiek and Niebrugge combined for a no-hitter while Mersman gave up the lone hit. Overbeck was the winning pitcher.

T-town led 1-0 after the first then had an eight-run second. T-town had eight hits, all singles, by eight different players.
