Effingham Junior High School competed at Mount Zion Saturday falling to St. Joseph-Ogden 10-0 in the opening baseball contest.

St. Joe stepped out to a 6-0 first inning lead. The Mustangs had one hit by Tate Niebrugge.

In the seconed contest, Effingham and host Mount Zion played to a 4-4 tie because of the time limit. The Mustangs had seven hits led by Dawson Whitten with a single, double and an RBI, Cameron Kalber with a double and two RBI and Colin Fielitz with two singles and an RBI.

In the third contest, Morton defeated the Mustangs 7-2. Kalber led the Mustangs with a double and triple while Kyle Pemberton added a double and an RBI.

In action Monday at Greenville, Effingham picked up both an A and a B victory.

In the A contest, Effingham was an 11-6 winner behind 13 hits. Pemberton had three singles and an RBI while Parker Wolfe, Jackson Lee and Kollin Waymoth had two singles each. Lee added an RBI. The Mustangs are now 8-8-1 on the season.

In B action, Efingham had a seven-run second and a five-run fifth in blanking the host squad 12-0 in five innings.

Sam Thompson had two singles, a triple and two RBI for the Mustangs while Ben Donsbach added a triple and an RBI.

In competition Saturday, Teutopolis ended the game in the fifth over Effingham St. Anthony 12-1.

H. Ruholl had a double and an RBI to lead the Shoes. He also was the winning pitcher on a one-hitter with three walks and three strikeouts.

At Greenville

Altamont picked up two victories at Greenville Saturday. In the opener, Altamont downed Piasa 8-4. Altamont broke a 2-2 tie in the third with two runs then had two in the fifth and two in the seventh.

Kollmann had a home run and two RBI for the winners while Brewer had two singles, a home run and two RBI. Cripe added two singles and two RBI and Reardon two singles.

In the second game, Altamont beat Greenville 7-5 despite being outhit 10-6.

Delaney had three singles while C. Reardon had two singles, a home run and four RBI for Altamont.

Altamont is now 10-4 on the season.

Meridian came calling and handed Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor a 17-11 loss. SSW led 3-0 until the third when Meridian tallied eight runs.
