Bulldogs Get Past Odin, BSE Downs Mulberry Grove

Six first-inning runs helped Effingham St. Anthony High School to a 7-2 win over Odin at Paul Smith Field Wednesday.

The Bulldogs scored in the first on an RBI triple by Ben Mendella, an RBI double by Greg Utz, an RBI single by Ethan Greene, two errors and an RBI single by Drew Gibson. Gibson went three-for-three at the plate for the contest.

Will Clausius recorded the win on the mound, allowing one run over three innings with three strikeouts, three hits and one walk.

Odin took the early lead in the top of the first with a single from Nix and a double by Williams to score the run.

At Mulberry Grove

Brownstown/St. Elmo trailed Mulberry Grove 1-0 until the third inning then broke loose for eight runs and went on to claim a 13-5 victory.

Noah Flowers was the winning pitcher, going all seven innings, allowing five hits, five walks and striking out eight.

Cole Horner had two doubles and two RBI for the winners. Nate Philpot had three singles and three RBI while Landon Feezel had two singles and an RBI . Flowers doubled and drove in a run.

BSE is now 2-3 on the season while Mulberry Grove drops to 2-2.
