Effingham Junior High School won its own tournament Saturday.
Effingham Junior High School captured the championship of its own baseball tournament Saturday.
The Mustangs opened with a 10-0 win over Oblong. Effingham's Kollin Waymoth, Nathan Barnes and Jack Blickem combined to throw a no-hitter. Meanwhile, Matthew Loy had a triple and an RBI while Chase Woomer added a double and two RBI and Ben Donsbach two singles and an RBI.
Effingham then bounced Sullivan 17-1 behind a 13-hit attack for the championship. Dawson Whitten had four singles and drove in three runs while Jackson Lee had two singles and an RBI and Colin Fielitz a double.
Kyle Pemberton, Waymoth and Barnes combined to pitch a one-hitter.

At Effingham
St. Anthony Junior High School claimed the championship of its own round robin tournament Saturday.
The Bullpups defeated Newton St. Thomas 15-7. St. Anthony stepped out to a 4-1 first inning lead then had a five-run second and three runs in the third and fifth innings.
Logan Antrim had a single and triple for the winners while Aaron Webb had a single, double and two RBI, Eli Moore two singles and two RBI, Will Fonner a triple and an RBI and Luke Flaig a double.
St. Thomas was led by Barthelme with a double and an RBI and Schafer with two singles and an RBI.
St. Anthony then downed Sigel St. Michael 11-3. Both teams had eight hits. The Bullpups tallied four runs in the first, six in the third and one in the fifth.
Jack Hoene had a single and double for the winners while Davis Tingley had two singles, a double and two RBI and Webb a single, double and two RBI.
St. Michael was led by Fearday with a single and triple, Walk with a double and two RBI and Fearday with two singles.

Teutopolis edged Homer Glen 6-5 in A action Saturday. Homer Glen led 4-0 in the top of the fourth. T-town came back with two runs in the bottom of the frame but still trailed 5-4 after six. T-town then won it with two runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Hardiek and Schwerdt had a double each for the winners. Schwerdt added two RBI. Ungrund had two singles and two RBI.
In the B contest, Mattoon handed Teutopolis a 15-9 defeat. Mattoon banged out 14 hits in the contest led by Baker with two singles, two doubles and three RBI and Prater with a single, two doubles and four RBI.
Teutopolis was led by Sarchet with a single, double and an RBI and Ruholl with two singles and an RBI.

Jasper County picked up a doubleheader over Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor. Jasper County won the opener 19-0 in three innings.
Jasper County had 22 hits in the contest led by Wise with four hits and two RBI and Rice, Pitcher, Stark and Geier with three hits each. Pitcher had three RBI, Rice two and Stark and Geier one each.
William Geier pitched the no-hitter with three strikeouts.
In the second game, Jasper County was a 15-0 winner in three innings. Schafer, Smith, McCoy, Howard and Martin had two hits each. Smith, McCoy and Martin had two RBI each while Schafer had one RBI.
Walden had the lone hit for Stew-Stras/Windsor.

North Clay (Louisville) captured third place in the South Central Tournament Saturday by defeating Patoka 5-1.
North Clay held a 3-1 lead after two innings then tacked on two runs in the fourth. Zimdars had a double and drove in two runs to lead the winners. Bible picked up the pitching win, going six innings, allowing two hits, three walks and striking out seven.
