Effingham St. Anthony Junior High School advanced to the championship game of its own Class 1A Baseball Regional after picking up a victory Saturday.

The Bullpups bounced Ramsey 16-1 in four innings. St. Anthony had 17 hits in the contest while Gibson and Greene combined to pitch a no-hitter. St. Anthony took a 2-1 first inning lead then had a six-run second, seven-run third and finished out with one in the fourth.

Greene had a single, two doubles, home run and six RBI while Gibson added three singles, a double and an RBI. Dust had two doubles and four RBI and Puckett a single, double and two RBI.

St. Anthony will now face St. Elmo, an 8-2 winner over Dieterich in the second game Saturday, at 4 p.m. today for the regional championship.

St. Elmo stepped out to a 2-0 lead after the first inning. Dieterich tallied one in the third but St. Elmo went on to score two in the fourth and took charge.

Leading St. Elmo were Feezel, Sperry and Brown with two hits each. Brown had three RBI and Feezel and Sperry one each.

Dieterich was led by Thoele with two hits and two  BI. St. Elmo now meets St. Anthony for the regional title.

At Findlay

Stewardson-Strasburg advanced to the title game of the Class 1A Findlay Okaw Valley Regional.

Stew-Stras edged Sigel St. Michael 6-5. The two teams were tied at 1-1 after the first inning. Stew-Stras took a 4-1 lead in the third but St. Michael came back to knot the score in the top of the fourth. St. Michael then took a 5-4 lead in the top of the fifth but Stew-Stras came back with two runs in the bottom of the inning and that's all it needed.

Thies had two hits and four RBI for the winners. Isaac Kramer picked up the pitching win on a one-hitter with two walks and four strikeouts.

Stew-Stras will now face host Findlay at 4 p.m. today for the championship. Findlay Okaw Valley blasted Windsor 18-3 Saturday.

At Teutopolis

Altamont opened Saturday action in the Class 2A Teutopolis Regional by bouncing Cumberland 11-1 in six innings.

Altamont stepped out to a 2-0 first inning lead and tallied runs in five of the six innings ending the game via the 10-run rule. Cumberland's lone run came in the second.

Altamont had 13 hits in the contest led by R. Armstrong with a single, double and an RBI and J. Stone, B. Runge, S. Childerson and N. Bowlin with two singles each. Bowlin brought home two runs.

Teutopolis captured the second contest with an easy 12-1 win over Neoga in five innings. T-town had 13 hits in the game led by Carson Hartke with two singles, a double and an RBI, Blake Mette with a single, double, triple and two RBI and Kyle McMahon with a double, triple and three RBI.

T-town will take on Altamont at 4:15 p.m. today for the regional championship.

Jasper County and Lawrenceville Parkview advanced to the title game of the Class 2A Jasper County Regional.

Jasper County blanked Palestine 13-0 while Lawrenceville Parkview won easily over Oblong, 10-0.

The two squads square off today at 4:30 p.m. for the regional title. No other information provided on Jasper County game.

At Shelbyville

Effingham fell to Mount Zion 5-3 in the Class 3A Shelbyville Moulton Regional Saturday.

Mount Zion edged out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Effingham tied in the fourth. Mount Zion then led 3-2 after five and tacked on two runs in the top of the seventh. The Mustangs mounted a comeback in the bottom of the seventh, loading the bases, only to fall short as the game ended on a running catch in left center.

Effingham had six hits in the contest led by Osborn with a single, double and an RBI. The Mustangs end the season with a 15-2 mark.

In the second contest, Charleston edged Mattoon 3-2. Charleston and Mount Zion will meet for the regional title at 4:30 p.m. today.
