Shelby County Legion Advances To State

DANVILLE -- Shelby County Junior Legion 611-289-725 blanked Rantoul 9-0 and then defeated Mattoon 6-5 to win the Fourth Division Tournament and advance to state action at Quincy College Thursday.
Dylan Park picked up the pitching win in the shutout by striking out 14. Members of the Shelby County team come from Neoga, Stewardson-Strasburg, Windsor, Okaw Valley and Shelbyville. The manager of the team is Kirby Floyd while the coaches are Jim Hutchinson and Troy Coleman.
Shelby County is now 23-6 on the season. The squad will meet Alton or Breese Thursday at the State Tournament.
