ST. LOUIS--On a 90 degree night, the shower St. Louis rookie left-hander Tim Cooney received in the locker room after recording his first major league win was almost as enjoyable as his performance on the mound.
"It was ice cold, just what I needed," Cooney said after throwing seven solid innings, leading the Cardinals to a 4-2 victory over the Atlanta Braves on Friday night.
Randal Grichuk hit a two-run homer, and Mark Reynolds and Jhonny Peralta added run-scoring hits to help the Cardinals improve to 6-1 since the All-Star break. They are a MLB-best 35-12 at home.

CHICAGO--Jeff Francoeur was feeling good to begin with, but a little inside knowledge of Chicago Cubs reliever Rafael Soriano didn't hurt matters.
Francoeur hit a two-run homer off his former Atlanta Braves teammate with two outs in the 10th inning and the Philadelphia Phillies, who had rallied to tie in the ninth, beat the Cubs 5-3 on Friday.
"I know Soriano likes to go away," said Francoeur, who delivered his second game-winning home run this week. "(After the first pitch), I just said, 'Stop trying to do something and just see the ball and hit the ball.'"
Kris Bryant and Chris Coghlan each homered for the Cubs.
