Todd Frazier got over his Home Run Derby hangover with the most appropriate type of hit.

The All-Star connected for the first time since he won the slugging contest, and Jay Bruce hit a key two-run shot in the sixth inning on Monday night, powering the Cincinnati Reds to a 5-4 victory over the Chicago Cubs.

Frazier won the derby at Great American Ball Park last Monday night, hitting the clinching homer with his final swing. Those 15 minutes of aiming for the seats tired him out -- he was 0 for 3 in the All-Star Game and hitless in 10 at-bats during a series against Cleveland over the weekend.

Manager Bryan Price left him out of the starting lineup on Sunday, which helped him recuperate.

"It's one of those things where it was a long week, I didn't get much sleep," Frazier said. "I wasn't feeling right. The day off helped me a lot."

Angels Sweep Doubleheader

The first rainout at Angel Stadium in 20 years did nothing to slow the Los Angeles Angels' monthlong surge. If anything, the Angels picked up speed.

Kole Calhoun and Albert Pujols homered during Los Angeles' seven-run second inning, and the Angels opened their first home doubleheader since 2003 with an 11-1 victory over the Boston Red Sox on Monday.

David Freese also hit a three-run homer in the AL West-leading Angels' fourth straight win and their 14th in 17 games overall. They only needed five pitches to score six runs at one point, surging to a huge early lead that allowed manager Mike Scioscia to rest a few regulars for the nightcap.

Although Albert Pujols doesn't much care for celebrations outside of October, he smiled and stood still when Mike Trout and Erick Aybar ran up and doused him with two postgame buckets of ice and liquid.

After a landmark night, even by this prolific power hitter's standards, Pujols wanted to soak it in -- and soak in it -- for just a moment.

Pujols hit three home runs while the Angels swept a doubleheader against the Boston Red Sox on Monday. He connected twice and seized the overall major league home run lead from Trout during Los Angeles' 7-3 victory in the nightcap.
