Effingham Post 120 Downs Teutopolis Post 924

Alex Hoelscher hopes every outing could go as well as Friday, as he tossed a shutout to carry Effingham Senior Legion Post 120 to a 4-0 victory over Teutopolis Post 924 at Teutopolis High School in seven innings.

Hoelscher kept contact to a minimum, striking out 10 Teutopolis Post 924 batters. Effingham Senior Legion Post 120's pitcher gave up just three hits over seven shutout innings.

Effingham got its bats going early, scoring three runs in the first inning to pull ahead of Teutopolis. Effingham scored in the first on an error, an RBI single by Tyler Zuber, and an RBI single by Hoelscher. Zuber got on base three times in the game. He also drove in one runner.

Nick Miller, Hudson Graham, Hoelscher and Eli Buhrmann each had one hit apiece. Effingham is now 4-0 in the conference, 11-5 overall.

Tommy Flach had two hits and John Kreke had one hit for Teutopolis Post 924.
