Effingham Legion Post 120 Splits Doubleheader

Effingham Legion Post 120 split a baseball doubleheader with Shelby County Legion Posts 289-611-725 Tuesday evening at Paul Smith Field.

Shelby County picked up a 2-1 victory. Shelby County tallied single runs in the second and third innings. Effingham didn't score until the seventh only to fall short.

Tyler Hendryx had a triple for the winner's only hit. Hendryx was the winning pitcher on a three-hitter with two walks and five strikeouts. Hudson Graham led Effingham with two singles.

In the second contest, Effingham came roaring back with a 14-7 win. Effingham held a 5-4 lead after two innings then had a seven-run third.

Nick Miller had three singles and Reid Kocher a single, double and four RBI for the winners. Graham and Blake White had two singles each. Graham had two RBI and White one.

Shelby County was led by Christian Vonderheide with two singles, a double and an RBI while Alex Allen had two singles and three RBI and Tyler Romack two singles and an RBI. Zuber picked up the pitching win on a seven-hitter with three walks and 10 strikeouts.
