The Teutopolis Wooden Shoes won't have much time to celebrate their 2A Sectional championship; they play their super-sectional game today.

The Shoes won the championship of the Vandalia 2A Sectional Monday, downing Belleville Althoff, 4-1, in a game heard on KJ Country 102.3 and www.kjcountry.com. The Shoes, now 30-5-1, will take on DuQuoin today at 5pm at the 2A Super-Sectional at GCS Park in Sauget. DuQuoin won the 2A Sectional at Nashville, 5-2, over Nashville Monday.

Teutopolis had a nice combination of power pitching and power hitting.

The Shoes got a two-run homer in the first inning off the bat of Jordan Thoele with courtesy runner Tyler Westendorf scoring ahead of him following a walk to Louis Niemerg.

T-Town repeated the formula in the sixth inning when Austin Hartke homered to score Westendorf ahead of him, again after Niemerg had walked. It's the third straight post-season game in which Hartke has homered.

Meanwhile, Niemerg took care of Belleville Althoff, allowing one run on five hits and no walks while fanning four in pitching a complete game.

At the plate for Teutopolis: Louis Niemerg--two walks; Tyler Westendorf--two runs scored; Jordan Thoele--home run, run scored, 2 RBI; Austin Hartke--home run, run scored, 2 RBI; John Kreke--single; Brock Mette--single; Jacob Roepke--double, single; Tommy Flach--single
