Altamont's Season Comes to a Close With Loss to Albion Edwards County

Altamont's season came to an end Wednesday evening, with a 9-­2 loss to Albion Edwards County at the St. Anthony Class 1A Sectional. The game was heard on KJ Country 102.3 and www.kjcountry.com.

Edwards County got Altamont down early, scoring a run in the first and in the second and then unloading with a six­run fourth inning to make it 8­-0. Edwards County added another run in the fifth to lead 9­-0.

Altamont finally got untracked offensively in the seventh on a leadoff double by Jake Finn and a single by Zach Beccue, with Beccue later scoring on an error, but the Lions then ended the threat to secure the win.

Nick Miller took the loss for Altamont.

Edwards County will play for the sectional championship Saturday at 10am against the winner of Thursday's semifinal game between the St. Anthony Bulldogs and the Neoga Indians.
