High School Regional Championship Games Almost in Place

Regional championship pairings are almost all decided after Thursday action.

The one exception is the 1A regional at Central A&M. Okaw Valley beat Arcola, 13-2, Thursday to reach the championship game. Central A&M will play Windsor/Stew-Stras today at 4:30pm to decide the other finalist.

In other games Thursday, Oblong won over Dieterich, 9-1, to reach the championship game of the Dieterich 1A Regional. 

Alex Bohnhoff went the distance for Dieterich, allowing six earned runs on 13 hits and a walk while striking out eight. Dieterich managed just three hits. Bohnhoff singled and scored the lone Dieterich run, while Poe singled Bohnhoff home and Radloff doubled. Dawson Maus got the win for Oblong, striking out seven in five innings of work.

Also Thursday, Cumberland nipped Casey-Westfield, 3-2, to reach the championship game of their own 1A regional. Kanizer got the win for the Pirates, striking out seven in four innings of work.

Altamont defeated North Clay, 8-6, to reach the championship game of the North Clay 1A Regional. Klaiton Wolff got the win for the Indians, allowing three earned runs on five hits in 6-2/3 innings. Wolff also homered as did Winn.

In the 2A Regional at Lawrenceville, Flora beat Newton, 3-1 to reach the championship game. Nicholson got the win, Mammoser took the loss despite allowing just one earned run on five hits in six innings of work, striking out eight. Bierman had two hits for Newton, while Geier, Jansen, Carr and Grunloh had the other Eagle hits. Geier drove in the lone Newton run. Flora improved to 21-14 with the win.

2A Lawrenceville Regional--Teutopolis vs. Flora, 10am Saturday
