T-town Claims DH Win, Area Baseball Roundup

WILLIAMSVILLE -- Teutopolis High School captured two victories in Saturday high school baseball action.
The Wooden Shoes opened with a 7-2 win over Shelbyville. T-town took a 3-0 lead in the second inning and had another three-run inning in the fifth.
The Shoes had nine hits led by Devin Smith with three singles and three RBI. Tommy Flach picked up the pitching win on a no-hitter through three innings with no walks and three strikeouts.
In the second contest, the Shoes waited until the sixth inning to break loose for a 6-4 win. Williamsville held a 2-0 lead in the second. T-town pulled within 2-1 in the fifth then had a five-run sixth. Williamsville came back with two in the bottom of the seventh only to fall short.
T-town had 10 hits led by Jacob Roepke with a single, double and two RBI, Austin Hartke with two singles and an RBI and Jordan Bloemer with a double and two RBI.
Louis Niemerg picked up the pitching win on a three-hitter with three walks and three strikeouts over five innings.
T-town is now 25-5-1 on the season. Niemerg sports an 8-0 pitching record.

At Mattoon
Edwards County (Albion) and Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg split games at Grimes Field in Mattoon.
In the opening contest, Edwards County was a 9-6 winner. The two teams were tied at 1-1 after three innings. Edwards County held a 4-2 lead after six then had a five-run seventh. WSS came back with four runs in the bottom of the inning but couldn't make up the deficit.
WSS was led in hitting by Mark Jones with two singles and an RBI.
In the second game, the Hatchets came back with a 7-1 win. WSS stepped out to a 4-1 first inning lead and went on to dominate.
Jacob Kramer had a single and double for the winners whil Derek Moshenrose had two singles and an RBI. Tristan Warner added a double and two RBI and Nic Hutchinson a triple and two RBI.
At Mattoon

Neoga and Marshall split Little Illini Conference wins Saturday.
Marshall won the opener 9-8. Marshall held a 9-7 lead after three innings. Neoga pulled within 9-8 in the sixth.
Kingery led the Indians with two home runs and three RBI. Moore added a double and two RBI.
In the second game, Neoga was an 8-4 winner. Neoga stepped out to a 3-0 first inning lead and led 4-3 after three. The Indians tacked on single runs in the fourth and fifth and two in the sixth.
Moore had a home run and two RBI while Hill and Walk had a home run each. Hill drove in five total runs and Walk had one RBI.
The Indians are now 17-7 on the season.

All the scoring came in the first inning. McNeelyled the Cardinals with two singles and two RBI while McNeely had two singles. North Clay is now 25-6 on the season.
