Hearts Pick Up Doubleheader Baseball Win

Effingham High School claimed a doubleheader baseball victory over Mount Carmel Saturday.
Braydon Bone had two extras base hits in the opening game to lead the Hearts to a 7-3 win. He doubled in the first imning and tripled in the second. Hudson Graham struck out 13 batters in the win. He allowed two earned runs, three hits and five walks over 6 1/3 innings.
Carter Hayes had a solo home run while Michael Woltman had a single and double and Graham two singles and an RBI.
In the second game, Hayes went two-for-three with a home run sparking the Hearts to a 3-0 win.
Lake Koenig kept Mount Carmel off the scoreboard for all seven innings as he pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on four hits while ringing up nine.
The Hearts took a 2-0 first inning lead as Hayes homered, his ninth of the season. He also had a single. Adam Koester had a double.
