Shoes Down Benton, Dieterich, Altamont Claim Baseball Wins

TEUTOPOLIS -- Teutopolis High School just keeps rolling along. The Wooden Shoes pushed their baseball record to 21-5-1 on the season with a 4-1 win over Benton Tuesday.
Benton held a 1-0 lead until the third when the Shoes dented the plate twice in the bottom of the inning. T-town added on two more in the fifth.
The Shoes had eight hits led by Austin Hartke with two doubles and three RBI. Brock Mette chipped in with a double.
Johnson also picked up the pitching win on a three-hitter with no walks and two strikeouts. He improved his record to 4-2.
Benton's Dakota Head was the losing pitcher, allowing four hits over three innings, one walk and striking out four. He dropped to 7-2. The Rangers fell to 24-6 on the season.

At Dieterich
Dieterich and Cumberland went scoreless through five innings before the Movin' Maroons scored in the bottom of the sixth to pull out a 1-0 win.
Thoele was the winning pitcher on a one-hitter with one walk and four strikeouts. Hartke had the lone extra base hit of the contest with a double and drove in the lone run.
The game was played in the memory of Thomas Overbeck, a junior at Dieterich High School who was a member of the baseball and basketball teams. Overbeck was killed in a car wreck in December.

At Brownstown
Altamont blanked Brownstown/St. Elmo 11-0 in a contest that went all seven innings.
The two teams were scoreless through the first three innings. The Indians then tallied two in the fourth and scored over the next three innings.
Nick Miller was the winning pitcher on a three-hitter with two walks and three strikeouts. Winn had a single and double and Wolff two singles and a double.
BSE was led by Nate Matthews with a double. BSE drops to 9-13.
